By Doug Mahoney, Norcross High School It was a soul stirring night at Gwinnett Relay for Life last Friday and we are so appreciative of all of your support as we pushed, prodded, emailed (again and again and again...) in our advocacy and fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society. The result: The Norcross High School Relay for Life team raised a total of $86,275.99. Those of you who attended on Friday witnessed how incredible our kids are at Relay. Their support during the survivor lap was heartwarming, their spirit during our school lap (and all night long) was inspiring, their emotion and reverence during the luminary lap (a silent lap by candlelight remembering those who have lost their bout with cancer) was powerful.  Other …

NHS Golf Team Begins Season With New Bags

Mizuno Golf, located in Peachtree Corners, gave the "gift of golf" - brand new golf bags for each Blue Devil team member.

The 24-member Blue Devils Golf Team recently received an unexpected gift - a brand new bag for each golfer this season - thanks to a generous donation by Mizuno Golf. When the season started a few weeks ago Chris Hall, the school's golf coach, began looking into the cost of getting bags for the school's two dozen players. But even discounted, the bags would be around $100 a pop he estimated. He had a contact at the Mizuno Golf manufacturing plant in Peachtree Corners, Curtis Brown, and decided to place a call. "I called him and said 'I'd really like to get bags for the team, can we work out a deal?'" Hall remembers. Brown, who has a daughter attending NHS, did better than that - he arranged to have Mizuno donate 26 brand new golf bags to…
