Cheaters are scum.

Amy, please know the facts before trying to make an argument. "...because Gwinnett countyRead More schools have kept this hush hush ... protect their precious Brookwood ...downplaying the situation." Yes, they are downplaying the situation. Wouldn't you? If the media were to get hold of these two childrens' names, they would lose a significant part of their futures. It's not about protecting a reputation for themselves as much as protecting the students. "I understand that two were arrested, probably for breaking into the classroom and that there were about 10 involved" Nobody was arrested. The students entered through unlocked doors so there was no "breaking." There were only three involved as far as the investigation goes- only two of the cases were severe. "I heard that one of the two was slotted to be valedictorian." This is false. "This was a huge scheme with texting and sharing of those photos." How would you know? "I guess Brookwood's brightest aren't that smart." At least they know not to falsify on a public website. I am not defending their actions- they were unjustified and ridiculously foolish to do what they did. Nonetheless, these were mistakes. Hopefully they will learn from them.

Well said Stanton. Amy sounds bitter to me. Not sure where she got all her 'facts' about 10 beingRead More involved and the two being arrested but apparently she reads and listens to 'The News as I want it to be' station

Some days no matter what one tries, things don't always go the way one had planned. Just ask theRead More Archbishop.

'flame retardant'? Some stupid liberal will probably try to change that to 'flame handicapped'.
wmsmom April 13, 2014 at 09:15 pm
No, the name doesn't need to change when it's used in the proper context. Your thoughts areRead More handicapped though, if that helps?

If you want to find solutions to the discipline policies in Gwinnett County, consider training withRead More the Parent Leadership Institute (thepli.org) to learn ways to be an empowered agent of positive change in the lives of Gwinnett children.

Try charging the bully who beat him up with assault. Not the school who had nothing to do with it. ORead More yeah let's sue the school and state for a few millions $

Now if Georgia can get some jobs for these grads. Only 2 companies in the last engineering job fairRead More were from Georgia. Sad we send our best out of state!
petluvr March 28, 2014 at 10:39 am
Yeah GT!
Road Scholar March 29, 2014 at 09:18 am
Not all Tech grads can stay here in Georgia. We are spread across the world! Another result of theirRead More enrollment policy and the needs of the world! When you are one of the best, non Georgians want you. When I was looking for a job , I had a few out of state firms state that they would like to add a GT grad to their staff. Cross "pollination" I guess!

Want happened to the person who used to be the editor of PATCH? A Ms. Murchison (Spelling?), IRead More believe. Just curious as I thought she was a good editor.

His obituary:Read More Harrison is survived by his two sons; Robert and Richard; and his four grandsons; Matthew, Michael, Daniel and David. I live in Kennesaw and have two owls living in my woods. They dont like it when I even try to getRead More pics, I can only imagine how terrified the owl "mascot" must be. Dress someone in a mascot costume and quit using Gods beautiful animals as a sick way to entertain people. Phyllis, u just have to ignore those hateful responses, some people are just ignorant.
Kirsten February 26, 2014 at 11:06 pm
Exactly--interesting, Patch, how your "sampling" of comments used in the article seemsRead More decidely one-sided.
Pam Mossack Doughty February 27, 2014 at 12:59 am
PETA actually DID try to get UGA to eliminate UGA and use a robotic dog. Not thinking that willRead More happen. Phyllis, so you're saying that we shouldn't have dogs as pets? REALLY? What is your suggestion to do with the abundance of dogs in the world? I am seriously asking you. And PETA has been documented with tossing euthanized dogs that they "rescued" into dumpsters, so PLEASE stop glorifying them.

In the photo, Sturgis has that "Yo, PETA, don't mess with my gig!" look.
Laura February 28, 2014 at 09:20 am
Mike Ross , nicely stated! I couldn't agree more!!
David Tiffany March 2, 2014 at 10:04 am
While I agree, generally, with Mike Ross, he goes a bit overboard - just as the PETA people do. TheRead More owl undoubtedly lives better than other members of its species, rather than the other way around. PETA should spend its time and resources trying to protect animals that are truly being treated abusively. Mike should also tone it down. The people at PETA are not evil, but only want the best possible treatment for the animals that share our planet.

JB McGee...I may do the same. I don't understand the need to stay open in potentially dangerousRead More conditions. The excuse that they have to many small children to release early is spin at its best. That is the reason why the high school lets out first. If they had simply closed school on Tuesday, parents would have been able to make arrangements accordingly. It's obvious to me that GCSB needs to have a tragedy happen before they will use caution.
Katie January 30, 2014 at 10:39 pm
My kid walks home from school, I don't want her slipping on ice coming home. It also says thatRead More Gwinnett County Schools are one of the few that are still going to be in session for school. This is a very dangerous situation, students should not be going to school on this day.
Thomas Little February 1, 2014 at 12:47 pm
Saying 'playtime in the snow will end' along with 'schools had enjoyed off days' is so inaccurateRead More and it's that kind of news that has others believe it too and that drives the behavior of the people who are in positions of authority and responsibility to make the wrong decision. What explanation could the editor give for his choosing those particular words when it's only his own prejudice that makes him think it and there is no facts to sustain it. Irresponsible.
Gwinnett County schools will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 30.
Taj Lalani January 30, 2014 at 07:14 am
Gwinnett county schools should have stay closed on tuesday. They always delay decisions until lastRead More minute. It frustrates parents as they try to figure out how to handle emergency situation. Most school systems have announced it monday evening but gcps stayed open adding to everybodys problem. Parents had to rush bck from work. I hope gcps learned their lesson
Thomas Little February 1, 2014 at 12:50 pm
This editor implies that kids don't want to go to school. Where does that thought come from?
M.K. OSBORNE February 2, 2014 at 10:57 am
