Whoa, Not So Fast: Which Gwinnett Roads Have the Worst Speeders?

We want to hear from you about roads with speeders. Be sure to add your location of concern to our map.

You've seen them. We all have.

  • They're the people who barrel through your neighborhood despite speed humps.
  • They zoom around corners despite not being able to see around said corner.
  • They barely stop at stop signs. Or, worse, they don't stop at all.
  • They ignore signs that indicate children are nearby. (School zones? What's that?)
Bottom line: They're speed demons. And, they make neighborhoods dangerous. We want to hear from you about which streets or neighborhoods have the worst speeders.

Map It:

We've created a map for you to pin the exact worrisome location. Just click "add" in the top right corner of the map above, and then insert the location in the next window. The map automatically updates. Be sure to zoom in our out on the map to see other additions.

Some Inspiration:

Just in case you can't think of any place (we doubt that, though), here's a real-life story brought to you by a Lilburn resident living in Hanarray Estates. Part of the store originally posted to Lilburn-Mountain Park Patch.

She sent this to us about a month ago:

"This is more a story than a tip, but I couldn't find another place to send this. I was wondering if you could post something addressing speeding on Hickory Ridge Road in Lee Acres/Hanarry Estates in Lilburn?

"I live here, and we have a horrible problem. My sweet dog was hit and killed yesterday after getting out of the back yard and no one stopped. That's news in itself.

"I have had to make a police report already because my daughter had to jump out of the road to prevent being hit by a jeep, and her scooter was ran over, by yet another person that didn't stop.

"This has to stop, and it is very sad. I believe anyone that could hit and leave a dog in the middle of the road for his owners to find could do the same thing to a child.

"Also the speeding is OUT of control. There is so much through traffic, all the while these people are going 30-70+ mph on a road with children on it! They use it to get around traffic on Killian Hill Road, but WE LIVE HERE! UNSAFE! And now, tragically, my family pet is gone.

"I just wondered if there was any way to get the word out."

Speak Out: Are you like her, and annoyed by speeders in your neighborhood? Want police to do something about it? Let us know by posting a comment.
