Gwinnett Annual Senior Health Fair—What A Deal!

This past Friday we met up with several hundred folks from our community for the 14th Annual Gwinnett Senior Health Fair at Bethesda Park Senior Center.  We took pictures, shook hands with old friends and new friends, and even won a door prize – a cookie scented candle (which is a very healthy way to enjoy cookies!)  We drank healthy “potions,” munched on fresh fruit, participated in health screenings, and learned from 50+ venders ways to take care of ourselves and lead a fun quality lifestyle along the way. Free to anyone who walked in the door, we filled our minds, spirits and goodie bags--what a deal!

This year’s event was sponsored by Bethesda Park Senior Center of Gwinnett County Parks and Gwinnett Medical Center’s Primetime Health Program. Gwinnett Parks and Recreation provided the venue, healthy food snacks, and literature, so we could know when and where to enjoy an active lifestyle at their many Gwinnett wide locations. We reconnected with the friendly folks from Gwinnett Medical Center and thanked them for Bill’s successful hip replacement just 3 short months ago. This morning Bill played tennis…Wow!  Who would have guessed?

Exhibit tables with friendly representatives and useful products included Safe driving classes, caregivers and home care, adult living facilities, healthy nutrition, weight loss and fitness centers, insurance and Medicare advice, volunteer opportunities, computer classes, bone density and stroke screening, Senior Games and friendly competition, and audio books with over 80,000 titles…something of interest for everyone!
