Gwinnett Teacher Named Southeastern Art Educator of the Year

Honor awarded by the National Art Education Association.

A Duncan Creek Elementary School teacher was recently honored by the National Art Education Association (NAEA). 

Dr. Jackie Ellet, a fine arts specialist at Duncan Creek Elementary, was named as the NAEA 2012 Southeastern Art Educator of the Year.

According to a Gwinnett County Public Schools press release, the NAEA program "recognizes the outstanding service of educators, focuses professional attention on quality art education and exemplary art educators, and increases public awareness of the importance of quality art education."

Earlier this year, Ellet was named the 2012 Georgia Art Education Association Art Educator of the Year.

Ellet has been a teacher at Duncan Creek Elementary since it opened in 2004 and has been with GCPS for 26 years, beginning her career in 1986 as a teacher at Rockbridge Elementary.
