Several Gwinnett Athletes in Sports Hall of Fame

Six will be inducted into the 2013 Gwinnett Sports Hall of Fame in May.

The six inductees into the 2013 Gwinnett Sports Hall of Fame include:

Courtney Swaim Trimble - Golf - Duluth High

Josh Wolff – Soccer - Parkview High School

Dave Hunter – Football Coach - Brookwood High School
Louis Williams – Basketball – South Gwinnett High School
Darius Walker – Football - Buford High School
Sherill Baker – Basketball – Greater Atlanta Christian School

Trimble, now the head golf coach at the University of Louisville, KY, was the 1998 state high school golf champion. She continued playing golf at Auburn University where she was a three-time All-SEC selection. In addition, she was a member of the 2002 U.S. Curtis Cup team and 2002 NCAA first-team All-American. Trimble played on the 2003 FUTURES Golf Tour and was ranked 52nd on the money list as a rookie.

She was named head golf coach of the University of Louisville Cardinals in June 2012.

Trimble previously spent three seasons rebuilding the University of Central Florida golf program into a national contender. In her third season, she guided the UCF Knights to its first NCAA appearance since taking over the program. The Knights had two tournaments wins for the first time since 2001.

She formerly served as an assistant coach at Auburn, her alma mater, where she helped coach the Tigers to the 2006 and 2009 SEC Championships. The Tigers finished the 2008-09 season ranked eighth nationally.

Trimble graduated from Auburn in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

She and her husband, Billy, live in Louisville and have a one-year-old son, Owen.

The six honorees will be inducted in the Gwinnett Sports Hall of Fame in a ceremony sponsored by the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation on Saturday, May 4, at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. Tickets are $12 each and may be ordered on the Gwinnett County Public School Foundation’s website at www.gcps-foundation.org.

A portion of each ticket will help fund student scholarships, teacher grants and academic initiatives in Gwinnett County Public Schools.
