Sen. Balfour Loses Ground in Political Donations

According to a recent report, Sen. Don Balfour has received fewer political contributions since a federal probe into his spending.

Sen. Don Balfour is pulling in fewer dollars in political donations since a federal probe began regarding his spending habits, according to an Atlanta Unfiltered report.

Balfour represents District 9, which includes parts of Dacula, Grayson, Lilburn, Loganville, and Snellville.

In the first six months of this year, Balfour reported $2,000 in political contributions, but in the same time period in 2001, he reported nearly $140,000, according to Atlanta Unfiltered.

Those previous donations were during the time when he still chaired the Senate Rules Committee. In January, he was replaced by Sen. Jeff Mullis.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations concluded its inquiry in December, but an outcome has not be made public.
