Driver Critically Injured Sunday in Wreck on Highway 78 in Loganville Area

Accident happened at 8:48 p.m. at the intersection of Hoke O'Kelly Mill Road, Loganville, in unincorporated Gwinnett.

The Gwinnett County Police Accident Investigation Unit is currently investigating a serious injury accident that occurred in unincorporated Loganville on Highway 78 at 8:48 p.m. Sunday evening, according to GCPD spokesman Sgt. Brian Doan.

Doan said early investigations show that a passenger car was travelling on Highway 78 eastbound at Hoke O'Kelly Mill road, and attempted to turn left This car was hit by a pickup truck traveling westbound on Highway 78. The pickup truck then struck a second passenger car waiting to turn onto Highway 78 from Hoke O'Kelly Mill Road.

The occupants of the second car were not injured, but the driver of the first passenger car was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.

Doan said as of 12:30 a.m., the accident victim was in a critical condition.
