Duluth Traffic Stop Leads to Police Chase, Injured Suspect

The fleeing suspect was struck by a responding Duluth police vehicle. Gwinnett County Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol also responded to the scene.

A man fleeing Duluth police officers Monday has been captured, and transported to a local hospital.

The suspect's identity has not been released.

The chase began when a Duluth police officer attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by the suspect.

"The suspect vehicle did not stop and fled a short distance before the driver abandoned the vehicle and continued to flee on foot," officials said in a Gwinnett County police media release. 

Duluth police, Gwinnett County Police Department and Georgia State Patrol all responded to the incident.

The fleeing suspect eventually was struck by a vehicle driven by Duluth police. The chase ended at the intersection of Steve Reynolds Boulevard and Old Norcross Road, the media release stated.

The suspect was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Officials did not immediately relay the state of the man's injuries

The Duluth Police Department and Georgia State Patrol are investigating.
