The second annual Adoption Explosion at the Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement Center resulted in the adoption of 425 animals, according to final figures.
The month-long event June 29-July 28 concluded with a block party July 27 attended by more than 1,800 people. The party featured children’s activities and a Cars for Critters show.
A cookout and a bake sale during the party raised more than $1,100 for the Society of Humane Friends, which runs the spay/neuter clinic at the shelter.
The center, located at 884 Winder Highway in Lawrenceville, will host the Pet Revolution, a 24-hour adoption event, Saturday, Oct. 12, featuring family-friendly activities, a motorcycle ride, and a 5K run.
