Baby Squirrel Takes Up Residence at Grayson City Hall

When squirrels were evacuated from the Grayson Senior Center, a baby squirrel got left behind. City staff took the young squirrel in and have passed it on to a wild life rescue expert.

For a short time, a new resident received VIP treatment from staff at . That new resident - a baby squirrel.

"We had squirrels in the Senior Center and when Mr. Moff got them out, I think the mama ran off and left the baby behind," said Laura Paul-Cone, Grayson City Administrator.

Paul-Cone said that was Wednesday. By the time she saw the baby squirrel again on Friday, it seemed happy to see her.

"When I was leaving City Hall, it kind of ran in front of me and stopped. It acted like it wanted to come to me," Paul-Cone said. "I didn't realize it was so young. I went and got a box and it started crawling toward me. When he got close enough I just picked him up. He must have been hungry - he was trying to nurse my finger."
