Man's Finger Bitten off During Fight - East Cobb Patch

An East Cobb man is accused of biting off the left index finger of another man during an altercation.

"During a physical altercation with (the victim), the accused did bite the left index finger of (the victim)," authorities wrote in the warrant. "The finger, just above the middle knuckle, became entire(ly) detached by the bite, and was unable to be re-attached by medical staff."

Woman Found Dead Inside Burned House - Cumming Patch

Firefighters responding to a house fire early Sunday morning found a woman's body inside the residence, according to authorities.

Division Chief Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department  said fire crews were dispatched around 1:08 a.m. to 5145 Shady Grove Road in northeast Forsyth County where a fire was burning a single-family house.

"Upon the initial attack [of the fire] and initial search of the home our firefighters did find the body of a deceased 40-year-old victim," he said.

Police Find Stolen Car Reportedly Used by '316 Office Creeper' - Athens Patch

Savannah police have discovered the sedan Tony Hornsby was driving when he allegedly pilfered wallets from employees at several Athens businesses and one elementary school.

Hornsby left Athens, in the car he reportedly stole from his uncle, on March 25, authorities believe -- the day police identified him as the alleged "316 Office Creeper."

Atlanta Steeplechase Set for April 13 - Cartersville Patch

The Atlanta Steeplechase, a nonprofit that benefits the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine and Zac Brown's Camp Southern Ground, is set for April 13 at Kingston Downs in Bartow and Floyd counties.

Now in its 48th year, the daylong event expected to draw 20,000 people to the track off Highway 411 in between Rome and Cartersville, has some new offerings, including a raffle for the one-year lease of a new Hyundai Equus, the Budweiser Clydesdales, the PeopleChase 5K race and an air show.

Warrant: Husband Leaves Injured Wife at Scene of Accident - Acworth Patch

An Acworth woman got out of a moving Chevy Silverado sometime between 11:53 p.m. Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday, and her husband allegedly left his injured wife on McClure Road without calling 911.

Though Erin Reed had "significant injuries to her face, head, shoulder, leg and hands" that "should have caused immediate concern for the safety and preservation of the victim's well being," Jeremiah D. Reed "did not remain at the accident location and call for assistance from EMS and police," according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.
