Superior Court Judge Michael C. Clark to Join Oxendine & Sauls LLC Upon Retirement From Bench

Superior Court Judge Michael C. Clark will join Jarrod Oxendine and Trey Sauls in practice on March 1, 2014, which will then establish the firm as Clark, Oxendine and Sauls LP.

“We are eager to have Judge Clark join our team as partner,” said Jarrod H. Oxendine, Esq., co-founder of O&S. “As the attorneys in our firm have presented cases to Judge Clark in his courtroom through the years, our professional relationship with him has grown and produced mutual admiration and respect among us all. These qualities form a solid foundation for a beneficial partnership moving forward.”

After 21 years of service on the bench, Judge Clark will reignite his career practicing law when he steps down as presiding judge of the 9th Judicial District on February 28, 2014. Judge Clark’s goal is to use his experience as a judge to effectively handle litigation in which he has an interest. Prior to becoming a judge he practiced law and tried more than 100 cases.  As a judge, he presided over 100 jury trials and disposed of more than 20,000 cases, including his most sensational case while on the bench: The case against Bart Corbin, a dentist who was charged with two murders that took place a decade apart. A bestselling book was written about Corbin and the case in 2007, titled “Too Late to Say Goodbye,” and a film of the same name came out in 2009.

“Judge Clark’s experience as a judge will undoubtedly enhance his effectiveness as a trial lawyer,” explained Ulice (Trey) Sauls III, Esq., co-founder of O&S. “As aggressive attorneys we are dedicated to fighting harder than other firms, and we are not afraid of legal challenges. Neither is Judge Clark. His addition to our team will be invaluable to our current and future clients.”

“I look forward to the challenge that only a trial practice can provide,” stated Judge Clark.  “Jarrod and Trey bring an energy to their cases that is rarely seen and I look forward to joining them.”
