Press Release: Lake Lanier Islands Resort® Gets Into the Swim of Things in Time for Busy Season

Popular Southern Lakeside Destination Debuts Legacy Lodge Leisure Pool in Initial Phase of $1.4 Million Renovation to Include Luxury Enclosure by Year-End

Buford, Ga. – April 24, 2014 – Long heralded as a beloved summertime destination thanks to the popularity of its beach and waterpark among families in landlocked North Georgia, Lake Lanier Islands Resort® has worked diligently in recent years to not only expand its offerings during its busiest season, but to also extend its attractions and amenities year-round. Their latest move includes a $1.4 Million renovation at the heart of resort’s crown jewel of accommodations – the Legacy Lodge. Originally constructed in 1989, the hotel and conference center was completely renovated in 2008 to glorious results – a stunning lodge-inspired retreat complete with stone and timber accents inside and out. In the years since, the warm reception from both business and leisure travelers has paved the way for the latest phase of renovations as it transforms its once standard 77,250 gallon hotel lap pool into a sprawling luxury leisure pool and patio. While guests of the Lodge will be treated to a new poolside experience throughout the spring, summer and fall months of 2014, the final unveil won’t occur until December when the curtain is raised on the Legacy Lodge Pool Pavilion.

Now open, the leisure pool at Legacy Lodge boasts a completely rebuilt interior with new tile and blue pebble tech plaster finish, lights, railings, two 400 BTU pool heaters, bench seating, and a salt water chlorination system for the safety and comfort of resort guests.  The surrounding pool patio has also been expanded and improved thanks to an additional 3700 square feet of deck space fashioned with beautifully laid tile pavers – providing enough space to seat 200 people on deck.

“Guests may elect to soak up some rays in a lounge chair by the pool or dine al fresco on the patio outside of Bullfrogs Bar & Grille,” explains Lake Lanier Islands Chairman of the Board, Virgil Williams. “For those visitors who prefer to lounge in the water rather than by the water, we’ve incorporated bench seating all around the pool’s interior along with poolside food and beverage service.  Just imagine… half of you in the water, the other half holding an ice-cold beverage while enjoying beach tunes spun by our DJ and the company of your friends and family. At night, guests can enjoy a swim under the stars or unwind around the large firepit at the end of the pool deck overlooking the lake. We’re particularly excited about the fact that while the pool will provide a cool and refreshing break from the heat in the summertime, its high-powered heaters will keep the water so warm in the Fall and Winter months that it may very well be a contender for the title of ‘World’s Largest Hot Tub!’

While resort guests enjoy splashing around the pool right on through to fall, the pavilion structure will be constructed and stored until November. At that point, the spectacular 6000 square foot stone, timber and glass structure will be put in place over the leisure pool for an estimated re-open date of December 2014. Upon completion, the Legacy Pool Pavilion will feature a soaring cathedral glass ceiling, exposed timber beams hung with lights, retractable walls for the return of warmer days ahead, and a walk-up window for placing orders at Bullfrogs Bar & Grille for a luxury indoor pool experience. Resort guests will want to be sure to pack their bathing suit for all future visits to the Southern lakeside destination.
