Stroll Amidst the Arts at 'Barefoot in the Park'

Ninth annual Barefoot in the Park Fine Arts Festival to fill the Duluth Town Green with jewelry, paintings, photography, wood art, sculpture, fiber art, and more.

Barefoot in the Park Fine Arts Festival will celebrate its ninth year of bringing an exhilarating and diverse offering of visual and performing arts to the Duluth Town Green May 11 and 12.

The festival will showcase the work of 50-plus juried visual artists in a garden of white tents. Two stages of live performing arts groups will entertain festival-goers.

A Children’s Tent full of activities, Binder’s Adult Learning Village featuring live art demonstrations, wine tastings, a beer garden, and plenty of good food will complete the experience. There is no admission fee.

The traditional “Barefoot Gala” will happen on Saturday from 5 until 8 p.m. Accompanied by the young musicians of “38th Parallel,” partygoers will sip wine, sample food from the area’s best restaurants, and vie for auction items that include artwork, event tickets and luxury services. Tickets for the gala are $500 for a table of 8 or $65 a person.

Festival hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. -5 p.m. Sunday. As May 12th is Mother’s Day, the public is especially invited to bring mom and the family. Let mom select her own Mother’s Day present from the many artist creations including jewelry, paintings, photography, wood art, sculpture, fiber art, and more.
