Nominees Sought for Artworks! Gwinnett Awards

Artworks! Gwinnett to honor outstanding arts contributions at second annual FUSION Awards ceremony. Deadline for nominations is Jan. 28.

ArtWorks! Gwinnett is seeking nominations to recognize the hard work of artists, arts organizations, arts educators, and corporate supporters of the arts throughout Gwinnett County.

The non-profit umbrella arts organization serving Gwinnett County will recognize their contributions to the arts at the second annual FUSION: Artworks! Gwinnett Awards on Monday, Feb. 25, at the Buford Theatre and Community Center. Several new awards have been added this year.

Nominations may be submitted online here. The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. Jan. 28, according to an announcement by Raye Varney, interim executive director of Artworks! Gwinnett.

With the exception of Lifetime Achievement, nominations should cover the period from Dec. 1, 2011 to Dec. 1, 2012, and the nominees must live in or work in Gwinnett County.

ArtWorks! is seeking nominations or self-nominations in the following categories:

  • Lifetime Achievement Award for an individual who has had a significant, multi-year impact on the arts in Gwinnett. (Last year’s winners: Ann Parsons Odum, Barbara Howard, and Cynthia Sutt)
  • Vision Award for an individual (or company) who has changed the arts in Gwinnett for the better through their vision and focus. This is a new award.
  • Arts Educator of the Year for an outstanding arts educator. (Last year’s winner: Robert Andrews)
  • Arts Volunteer of the Year for an outstanding arts volunteer. (Last year’s winner: Holley Calmes)
  • Corporate Arts Citizen-Individual for a member of the corporate community who has made a significant impact on the arts. (Last year’s winners: Karen Fine Saltiel and Theresa Bullock)
  • Corporate Arts Citizen-Organization for a company in Gwinnett that has made a significant impact on the arts. (Last year’s winners: Chocolate Perks, Gwinnett Daily Post, and Primerica Foundation)
  • Community Impact-Community Partnership recognizing a community partnership that has made a significant impact in Gwinnett this past year. (Last year’s winner: Barefoot in the Park)
  • Community Impact-Arts Leader for an arts leader who has made a significant impact in Gwinnett this past year. (Last year’s winner: Teresa Osborn)
  • Community Impact-Community Arts Program for a community arts program that has made a significant impact in Gwinnett this past year. (Last year’s winners: Gwinnett Public Libraries Arts Programs and Suwanee SculpTour)
  • Community Impact-Creative Business for a creative for-profit business that has made a significant impact in Gwinnett this past year. (Last year’s winner: Accent South Media)
  • Community Impact-Ensemble: for a non-profit arts ensemble that has made a significant impact in Gwinnett this past year. (Last year’s winner: The OTC Comedy Troupe)
  • Community Impact-Literary Artist for a literary artist who has made a significant impact in Gwinnett this past year. This is a new award.
  • Community Impact-Performing Artist for a a performing artist who has made a significant impact in Gwinnett this past year This is a new award.
  • Community Impact-Visual Artist for a visual arts artist who has made a significant impact in Gwinnett this past year. (Last year’s winner: Vickie Johnson)
  • Community Impact-Visual Arts Organization for a visual arts non-profit that has made a significant impact in Gwinnett this past year This is a new award.
  • Community Impact-Performing Arts Organization for a performing arts non-profit that has made a significant impact in Gwinnett this past year. (Last year’s winner: Aurora Theatre)
