Gwinnett Football Getting Props in State Rankings

Six Gwinnett County teams are listed in this week's state football rankings.

It's no surprise that the strength of football in the state of Georgia resides in Gwinnett County.

The evidence is seen in Georgia High School Association championships every year — including Norcross (Class 6A) and Buford (3A) in 2012.

It's also reflected in the state rankings.

This week, six Gwinnett schools are ranked by the Georgia High School Football Daily, which compiles weekly rankings for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Here is a list of Gwinnett's ranked teams, and their next scheduled games:

  • 1. North Gwinnett: Ranked No. 1 in Class 6A. Plays at Norcross, Friday, Sept. 13.
  • 2. Buford: Ranked No. 1 in Class 3A. Plays at Gainesville, Friday, Sept. 6.
  • 3. Greater Atlanta Christian: Ranked No. 4 in Class 2A. Plays Apalachee at home, Friday, Sept. 6.
