Where Are Gwinnett's Worst Intersections?

Readers and Patch editors offer their thoughts on the worst traffic sites in the county. Add yours.

Editor's Note: Orange markers on this map denote reader submissions.

Traffic. It affects everyone in Gwinnett every day -- and most residents have nothing good to say about it.

So we have decided to put the ultimate question to the test. What are Gwinnett's worst intersections? What junctions cause the most headaches on a regular basis?

And we've gotten a boatload of suggestions. From Suwanee to to Norcross to Hamilton Mill, Patch readers and editors have voiced thoughts on a random basis. They range from opinions based on personal experiences, to suggestions based on data such as police reports.

And we're going to include them here -- and hope that you offer even more thoughts.

Here goes:

Buford/Dacula: I-85 at Mall of Georgia.

Duluth: Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at Pleasant Hill Road.

Lawrenceville: Highway 316 at Buford Drive.

Norcross: I-85 at Jimmy Carter Boulevard.

Peachtree Corners: SR 141 at Holcomb Bridge Road.

Snellville: Per a Patch poll, a tie; Highway 78 at 124, at Wisteria Drive, and at Ronald Reagan Parkway.

Suwanee: Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and McGinnis Ferry Road..

These all seem to the busiest intersections, but to me the worst are the more dangerous ones. In Loganville, for instance, I hate the intersection at 20 and 81; it really needs a left turn signal going left onto 20 toward Grayson.

Since the "improvements" to the intersection of Beaver Ruin and Indian Trail and the addition of a median to Indian Trail, this intersection has rapidly gotten more dangerous, as people are now trying to make U turns to the other side of Indian Trail, while those on Beaver Ruin are turning right in a constant stream onto Indian Trail. It makes for some desparate moves with disasterous consequences. The "fix" to this intersection and the medians on Indian Trail have made this intersection much worse than it used to be.

Totally agree. Those "improvements" are AWFUL!

While McGinnis Road at PIB is a bad intersection, the one right next to it at Moore Road is almost as bad. The two of them are in newly developed business areas that have a great amount of traffic turning in and out of PIB. They need a 45 mph speed limit to show traffic down.

I absolutely hate the intersection at Peachtree Corners Circle and Holcomb Bridge when you are looking to turn right at the light when coming from the post office, because you can't really see over the hill at what's coming. I find myself sitting there not willing to go and people behind you get angry because there isn't any sign or anything that tells you not to turn right on red.
