A Nov. 28 road rage incident led to a minor accident and the arrest of a Sugar Hill couple.

Police were dispatched to Old Cumming Road and Nelson Brogdon Boulevard after a Buford man called police to report that a female motorist had pointed a gun at him.

According to the Buford man, he and a friend were driving to work when a woman, identified as Kimberly Dutton, 50, of Sugar Hill, pulled out of a driveway and nearly struck their vehicle. The Buford man said his friend had to swerve to avoid being struck by Dutton's vehicle.

"[The Buford man] stated that Dutton became upset over the incident and pulled out a silver snub-nosed 38 revolver and pointed it directly at him," the officer wrote in the report.

The two men followed Dutton long enough to obtain her tag number and called 911. A short time later, the men noticed a red Dodge Ram pickup truck following their vehicle. The men said the truck passed them and the driver, Joe Dutton, 49, of Sugar Hill, allegedly tried to block their vehicle.

The men told police Dutton jumped out of his truck and began yelling at them and making threats. The driver was able to pull around Dutton's vehicle and continue on Old Cumming Road. As the two vehicles approached the intersection of Old Cumming Road and Nelson Brogdon, Dutton allegedly blocked the Buford men's vehicle once more.

"Dutton reached into the vehicle, grabbed [the driver] by his jacket collar and also the steering wheel," the report stated. "This caused [the driver] to panic and step on the gas."
